I just wanted to expound on my comment regarding this story being relevant to us becasue we are all humans. I view us as having all come from the same place/origins. Therefore I see us inter-related and interconnected in many ways. Whether or not you agree with this idea you can still comprehend the fact that the American Indians have been taken advantage of. And I feel that as humans we can all relate. We all understand hate, pain, oppresion, mistreatment and therefore I feel that we can all relate to the content of "Sin Eaters". Sin Eaters is written in the context of war, concentration camps, and genocide. I feel that you don't have to be a WW2 survivor to relate to these concepts.

I feel that Alexie did a substantial job of portraying race abuse in a way that relates to the mases. The previously stated concepts are brought home with settings of everyday life with characters that could have existed. Alexie left me asking the question of "if it happened to the indian people could it happen to me" and if we are truly connected to each other "does what affects one culture effect me and my culture". Just thoughts to ponder on.
